Botulinum Toxin Injections, which is also commonly known as Botox injections, is a toxin that is used to block signals from the nerve to the muscles. This will make sure that the injected muscle can no longer contract forcefully, which results in the wrinkles softening and relaxing. Botox injections are considered to be the most common and most popular cosmetic treatment in Turkey and the world.
Botox injections often contain Botulinum Toxin which is a toxin that is commonly produced by the bacterium Clostridium Botulinum. However, when consumed in large quantities, this toxin injections can result in a form of muscle paralysis commonly referred to as botulism, which is often associated with food poisoning. Although one of the most severe complications of using Botox injections is paralysis, it has been proven that the Botulinum Toxin can be used for human benefits. Small and diluted quantities of the Botulinum Toxin can be injected into specific muscles to cause a controlled relaxation of the muscles in that area. In the 1980s, it was discovered that the Botox injections can be used to stop health problems like strabismus (lazy eye) and blepharospasm (uncontrolled blinking).
Cosmetic doctors have also been using Botox injections for many years now, to effectively remove wrinkles and facial creases. Botox injections can be used to remove frown lines on the forehead, axillary hyperhidrosis (increased sweating of the armpits) and crow’s feet (lines around the eye).
The Botulinum toxin is also injected to treat a wide range of health problems such as muscular disorders, excessive sweating, bladder disorders, bowel disorders, and migraines.
Botox Injection Procedure
The Botulinum toxin is administered by diluting the powder in saline and injecting it straight into the neuromuscular tissue. The effects of the Botulinum toxin become apparent after about 24 to 72 hours of the procedure. Although this is very rare, it is possible on some occasions for the effects of the Botulinum toxin to take about 5 days to become apparent.
However, it is important to note that the use of Botulinum toxin is not recommended for pregnant and lactating women. It is also important to know that the use of Botulinum toxin is not recommended for people who have had a previous allergic reaction to the drug or any of its components. The injection of the Botulinum toxin often takes about 10 minutes. The effects of the Botulinum toxin often become apparent after 24 to 72 hours because of the fact that the toxin will need that much time to attach to the nerve endings that will often cause the muscle to contract.
How Does Botox Injections Work?
Botulinum toxin is a toxin that is used to block signals from the nerve to the muscles. This will make sure that the injected muscle can no longer contract forcefully, which results in the wrinkles softening and relaxing. The use of Botox injections can be used to treat different conditions like Crow’s feet, chin (for dimpling), frown lines, forehead lines, bunny lines (lines in the nose) and skin bands on the neck and around the mouth (for smoker’s lines and down turned corners of the mouth). However, the Botox injections might not be able to treat damages that occur as a result of wrinkles caused by sun damage and gravity.
However, it is very important to note that Botulinum toxin is not a face filler and cannot be used to fill existing wrinkles but can be used to relax the muscles that are making the wrinkles.
Normally, a wrinkle in the skin is produced perpendicularly to a contracting muscle that can be found directly under it. For instance, the muscle in the forehead is a vertical muscle, so when it contracts (like when you are raising your eyebrows), the lines that will be formed (in form of wrinkles) will be horizontal. And also, the two muscles that are responsible for the appearance of frown lines are located slightly horizontally between the eyebrows, so when they contract, the frown lines will appear vertical.
When the Botulinum toxin is injected into the muscles, it will block the nerve impulses to those tissues and prevent them from causing the wrinkles to appear when the muscles are contracted or relaxed. This is done to ensure that there is a minimization of the muscle activity that causes frown lines. This will, in turn, create a smoother appearance. The absence of contracting muscle beneath the skin will make it difficult for wrinkles to develop in the skin.
Although the Botulinum toxin can be used to treat facial lines that occur as a result of total relaxation of the skin, a lot of people prefer to use face fillers to solve this problem. This is mainly because of the fact that although Botulinum toxin can often soften these lines, they cannot always remove them completely.
Functions Of The Botulinum Toxin
The Botulinum toxin is considered to be one of the most poisonous substances known to man in the world. Studies have shown that just one gram of the Botulinum toxin can kill about 1 million people and a few kilograms is capable of killing every man on earth. If there is a high concentration of the toxin in the body, the person can develop a condition known as Botulism. Botulism is a severe, deadly ailment that if left untreated can cause respiratory failure and ultimately death. Although the Botulinum toxin is very dangerous, it is still widely demanded in the world for its many uses in the medical fields for the treatment of various health conditions. It has also been proven that the Botulinum toxin is a highly effective and important therapeutic protein.
The Botulinum toxin is often injected into the body in extremely small concentrations to prevent signals from the nerve cells getting to the muscles. This is done to paralyze the muscles and prevent them from making wrinkles on the skin.
